Syracuse, N.Y. - Dan Francoeur (West Hartford, Conn.) paced the University of Connecticut men's cross country team with a 52nd place individual finish, as the Huskies placed 10th at the BIG EAST Championship this afternoon at Jamesville Beach County Park in Syracuse, N.Y.
The host Orange won the BIG EAST title for the second consecutive season, while Louisville, Providence, Villanova and Notre Dame rounded out the top-five.
Francoeur, who was the first UConn runner to cross the line, finished 52nd out of 118 runners with a time of 26:53 to pace the Huskies. Nick Aguila (West Hartford, Conn.) was close behind as he finished 54th overall in a time of 26:55.
Ryan McGuire (Orange, Conn.) and Jordan Magath (Hillsborough, N.J.) were the next Huskies to finish, McGuire placing 68th (27:30) and Magath placing 71st (27:38), while Artem Skobrev (Norwalk, Conn.) placed 78th in 27:59.
Joe Clark (West Islip, N.Y.), Tim Bennatan (Lake Forest, Ill.) and Alex Bennatan (Lake Forest, Ill.) rounded out the UConn runners this afternoon, placing 87th (28:26), 90th (28:30) and 99th (29:14) respectively.
The Huskies will have two weeks off from competition, with their next race coming on Saturday, November 13, at the NCAA Northeast Regional Meet. The meet will begin at 11:45 a.m. at Hammonassett State Park in Madison, Conn.
