Men's Hockey Upends Army, 3-2

Storrs, Conn. - The UConn men's hockey team traveled to West Point, N.Y. to open Atlantic Hockey play and defeated Army, 2-1. Freshman Cole Schneider (Williamsville, N.Y.) tallied his first two collegiate goals to lead the Huskies. Senior Brian Reagan (Ballwin, Mo.) finished the game with two points on a goal and an assist. Sophomore Garrett Bartus (St. Charles, Ill.) earned the victory with 35 saves.
With the victory tonight, UConn now stands at 1-1-1 overall and 1-0-0 in the Atlantic Hockey Association. Army falls to 0-3-0 on the season and 0-2-0 in AHA play.
After a scoreless first period, the Huskies successfully came back from down, 1-0, early in the second stanza. After a goal by Army's Danny Colvin at 4:08, UConn three goals in the third period to open Atlantic Hockey play with two points and a victory.
Schneider evened the score with his first goal of the season just 1:02 into the third period. Reagan put the Huskies ahead with his first goal of the season, the fourth of his career, at 5:30. Sophomore Miles Winter (Horsham, Pa.) assisted on the play.
With Army pushing to even the score late in the third, Schneider sealed the deal with his second of the game at 13:09. Senior Jason Krispel (Cypress, Calif.) and Reagan assisted on the play.
Army would cut the lead to one with a goal from Cody Omilusik at 15:23 but the Huskies held the one-goal lead for the remainder of the third period to earn their first victory of the season.
UConn will be in action next when the Huskies travel to face Union at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 28.
