STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut 4x200 meter relay team made its first top-10 appearance in program history on the 53rd National Relay Rankings, released by Track & Field News' October edition.
The Huskies are showcased at No. 9 behind the top-relay group from Texas A&M. The ninth place ranking marks the highest finish for the Huskies, a group that featured Jessica Foreman, a recent UConn graduate, along with current women's track and field team members, Mandela Graves-Fulgham, Trisha-Ann Hawthorne and Danielle Lyte.
"To be recognized in Track & Field News as one of the top teams in the country, especially a race like the 4x200 relay, is really great," said sprints/hurdles coach Clive Terrelonge. "If you look at all these teams above us, we have beaten probably five or six of the top-eight teams at some point last year in this relay.
"I am pretty excited about this sprint group being recognized on the international level of being one of the best sprint relay teams in the country," said Terrelonge. "Myself, Coach (Bill) Morgan and Coach (Andrea) McDonough are very proud of these ladies and what they did last year. Hopefully we can keep that going in 2010."
