Sanders Leads Men's Cross Country to Third Place Finish

AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Connecticut men's cross country team finished third behind Massachusetts and Maine at the UMass Invitational on Saturday. Senior Will Sanders (Wethersfield, Conn.) led the field with a 25:22 finish while teammate junior Scott Johnson (Old Lyme, Conn.) was fourth with a 25:46 time.
Sanders and Johnson were the only two UConn runners to finish in the top-10 while freshmen Nick Aguila (West Hartford, Conn.) came in 15th and Jordan Magath (Hillsborough, N.J.) was 22nd. Aguila recorded a 26:25 time while Magath finished in 26:41.
The season continues for the men's cross country squad when the Huskies compete at the Connecticut College XC Invitational in Waterford, Conn. on Sept. 26.
