EUGENE, Ore. - University of Connecticut three-time All-American high jumper, Carin Knight took 11th place with a mark of 1.78 meter (5' 10") at the 2009 USATF Outdoor National Championships on Thursday.
"Although Carin seemed to run out of steam for this meet, her year was outstanding," said head coach Bill Morgan. "We will learn from this and she will be even better next year in her final year at UConn."
The UConn standout entered the meet after earning her third All-American title as she took fourth place in the high jump with a leap of 1.83 meters (6'0") at the 2009 NCAA Division I Women's Track and Field Championship in Fayetteville, Ark.
Knight joined former UConn women's track star, Dierdre Mullen in the event at the USATF Championship on Thursday. Mullen, a five-time All-American high jumper for UConn when she was a student-athlete, finished in fifth place with a mark of 1.88 meter (6' 2") as she represented NIKE at the championship.
Chaunte Howard, who was also competing for NIKE, won the event with a jump of 1.95 meters (6' 4 ¾").
