STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut women's track and field team competed in the UConn Select Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Storrs, Conn. to mark its final home meet of the season before traveling to Brown next weekend.
"It was all about our seniors today," said head coach Bill Morgan. "It was the start of our celebration of our senior class and the pride we have in them. What they have brought to the program and to the school, and with their accomplishments - just the people they are - it's great to honor them.
"Having the parents come out on the track with their daughters at the end of the meet was just significant for us," said Morgan. "It was what the day was all about - it was a great day."
During today's meet the Huskies also honored their 2008-09 seniors, which included Jessica Foreman, Monique Hodges, Amanda Martin, Jessica White, Vicki Weismann, Kate Vaughan, Keelan King, Rebecca McCollum, Ashley O'Brien and Rachael Porter.
The Huskies also recorded 11 first place finishes in today's meet, while they swept the top two spots in nine events, including the 200-meter dash which saw Mandela Graves-Fulgham finish in first place with a time of 24.23. The 4x100 meter relay team continued to do well this season as they won its event with a 45.87 finishing time. The 4x400 meter relay also won with a time of 3:51.66.
