Relays Lead Huskies in Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The University of Connecticut women's 4x200 relay team finished in first place with a time of 1:37.79 to lead the Huskies at the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, Tenn. over the weekend.
Led by seniors Jessica Foreman, Mandela Graves-Fulgham and Monique Hodges along with freshman Danielle Lyte, the student-athletes combined for the relay win.
In the Huskies' 4x800 meter relay team recorded the third fastest time in school history with a fifth place finish in a time of 9:06.87. The Huskies combining for the relay finish were Ashley O'Brien, Leah Andrianos, Lhyana Dallas and Heather Wilson.
Foreman also performed well during individual events as she picked up an NCAA qualifying mark of 11.61 in the 100-meter dash. O'Brien recorded a BIG EAST qualifying mark in the 800-meter run with a finishing time of 2:12.55.
In field events, senior Amanda Martin finished in second place in the javelin behind one of the best javelin performers in the country in Rachel Yurkovich. Martin's throw of 47.15 meters was an NCAA qualifying mark as well as a personal best this season. Carin Knight also performed well in the high jump with a mark of 1.70 meters.
"The weather wasn't the greatest this weekend but our young ladies took advantage of the opportunity to compete against some of the best teams in the country that we normally don't compete against." said head coach Bill Morgan. "We did a great job this weekend and we all look forward to next weekend's meet at home in Storrs."
UConn returns to action on Saturday, April 18 with their final home meet of the outdoor season in Storrs, Conn.
