STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's cross country team, currently ranked 10th in the Northeast, will travel to Penn State University this weekend for the Penn State National at the Blue/White Golf Course in University Park, Pa. The race begins at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
The Huskies continue their successful run this season and will be matched up against some competitive programs this weekend, including BIG EAST foe and nationally-ranked (No. 3) West Virginia. No. 23 Michigan and No. 16 Penn State will also be among the elite running on Friday.
"We are really looking forward to this competition and to getting back to the 6K distance, which we feel really suits our team," said distance coach Andrea Grove-McDonough. "As it is the final big tune-up before the BIG EAST Championship, it is a great opportunity for us to go up against some great competition and take some chances out there on the course.
"We are not going to be racing our No. 1 runner for this race, so we need some of the others to step up and take control of the group up front." Added McDonough.
