PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (April 27, 2008) - Leah Andrianos (East Syracuse, N.Y.) won the 1,500 meter run with a winning time of 4:31.35 to qualify for the ECAC and BIG EAST Championships as she led the University of Connecticut women's track and field team at the Brown Springtime Invitational.
Andrianos' first place finish was also the third fastest finish in the 1,500 in school history. Kate Vaughan took first place with a personal record finish in the 5,000 meter run at 18:09.90 while she completed her junior season for the Huskies.
Sophomore Dominique Thibault (L'Orignal, Ont.) finished in second place for the Huskies in the shot put with a finishing mark of 13.55 (44-5.50). Last weekend the multi-sport athlete earned a BIG EAST qualifying finish and will compete in next week's conference Championship meet.
"We had a good outing today at Brown as we gear up for the Championship season," said head coach Bill Morgan. "It was good to see these ladies perform well today and look forward to the BIG EAST Championship next weekend."
