CENTERVILLE, Mass. (April 18, 2008) - Freshman Trisha-Ann Hawthorne (Elmsford, N.Y.) was selected as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Track Athlete of the Week after breaking the school outdoor record in the 200 meter dash with a finishing time of 23.58.
Hawthorne's record breaking time was during competition at the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, Tenn. on Saturday, April 12. Her time meets the NCAA regional qualifying mark and is currently the best time in the 200 meter dash in the BIG EAST Conference.
The freshman also competed in the 100 meter dash as she finished with a time of 11.56.
"We, as a coaching staff, feel really great on how everyone, especially Trisha-Ann, competed last weekend," said head coach Bill Morgan. "With the great competition and hard work we put in last weekend, it will help us prepare even more for the championship season in two weeks."
UConn will return to action tomorrow, Saturday, April 19 as the Huskies host the UConn Select Invitational. Women's events are set to start at 1:00 p.m.
