Men's Tennis Drops Weekend Matches

WEST POINT, N.Y. (February 10, 2008) - The University of Connecticut men's tennis team fell to Stony Brook, 7-0, and Army, 6-1, over the weekend to start its spring season off with a 0-2 record. Both matches were played at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center at Army.
The Huskies squared off against the Seawolves Saturday with Christian Malerba (Derby, Conn.) and Joey Michaels (Rochester Hills, Mich.) capturing the lone win of the day in the no. 2 doubles spot. They pair defeated Stony Brook's Artem Baradech and Alex Markovich, 8-6.
UConn continued play with a Sunday morning match vs. Army, where it fell 6-1. Aaron Ribchinsky (Ivoryton, Conn.) took the no. 6 singles match over Josh Krieter, 6-3, 6-4 to take one point for the Huskies.
The men's tennis team returns to action Saturday, Feb. 13, with matches against Lehigh and Maryland-Eastern Shore, both to played at Lehigh.
