PROVIDENCE, R.I. (September 16, 2007) - Action concluded Sunday for the  University of Connecticut men's tennis team at the Northeast Intercollegiate, hosted by Brown.
The semifinal and championship matches proved to be a tough site for the Huskies in singles play, as Andrew Marcus (Potomac, Md.), Aaron Ribchinsky (Ivorytown, Conn.) and Jesse Silkoff (Cheshire, Conn.) each fell in their final match after blowing through the respective flights.
Despite falling in the #5 singles final, head coach Glenn Marshall praised Marcus, a freshman, for his outstanding efforts.
"Andrew really led the way for us this weekend," he said.  "With his performances in the #5 singles flight and #3 doubles with his partner, Tom Cook, he had an outstanding weekend us. I look forward to seeing him continue to improve and be a major contributor to the team."Marcus and Tom Cook (Pittsford, N.Y.) defeated Villanova's pair, 8-6, Sunday morning for the first-place finish in #3 doubles.
The Huskies return to action Wednesday in their first dual match of the season, welcoming Rhode Island to Storrs at 3:00 p.m.
