Men's Tennis Finishes First Day At Northeast Intercollegiate

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (September 14, 2007) - The University of Connecticut men's tennis team wrapped up day one at the Northeast Intercollegiate, hosted by Brown University, Friday.
The Huskies captured seven matches on the day, including five in doubles play.
Joe Goldstein (Tuscon, Ariz.) and Ben Schueler (Arlington, Mass.) won their #1 doubles match in the first round, besting Hofstra's pair by an 8-7 (6) margin, before falling to FDU in the quarterfinals.
Andrew Marcus (Potomac, Md.) and Tom Cook (Pittsford, N.Y.) teamed up in #3 doubles, putting up wins over pairs from Rhode Island and Boston College to earn a spt in Saturday's semifinal match.
In Flight Six singles, both Aaron Ribchinsky (Ivorytown, Conn.) and Cook won their first rounds to advance to the quarterfinals on Saturday.
The competition continues throughout the weekend.
