STORRS, Conn. (June 22, 2007) - Tristan Jones (Canberra, Australia), a graduated senior from the University of Connecticut men's swimming and diving team, was named a Third Team Academic All-America by ESPN The Magazine earlier this month after taking home First Team All-District honors in May.
The senior tri-captain's achievements make him one of the most decorated swimmers at UConn in recent memory. He holds the school records in the 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley, and is a part of five record-holding relay teams. Jones also has top ten rankings all-time in seven different events for UConn. He was a championship finalist at the BIG EAST Championship for four years, earning All-BIG EAST honors.
He is also a three-year United States Open qualifier and finalist, United States Senior national qualifier, two-time UConn Outstanding swimmer and 2004 Australian Olympic Trials Competitor.
In 2006-07, his times in the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke ranked in the NCAA top 50 times.
Jones earned Dean’s List honors in every semester he has been at UConn and was a BIG EAST Academic All-Star four times.
A native of Canberra, Australia, Jones majored in actuarial science. He was honored with the Donald Kinsman Award earlier this spring from UConn’s Counseling Program for Intercollegiate Athletes as one of the top Husky student-athletes for the year.
