GAINESVILLE, Fla. (May 26, 2007) - The University of Connecticut women's track team wrapped up competition at the NCAA East Regional Championships on Saturday afternoon at James G. Pressly Stadium on the campus of the University of Florida.
Sophomore Jessi Foreman (Wayland, Mass.) placed sixth in the finals of the 100m dash clocking in at 11.74. She just missed automatically qualifying for Nationals by one place, but will find out later in the week if her time will send her to Sacramento.
In the 3,000m steeplechase, senior All-American Jillian Sullivan (Bristol, Conn.) came in ninth place in a time of 10:18.25 and also has a great chance of qualifying for Nationals with her time.
Junior Tamara Highsmith (East Haven, Conn.) placed 11th in the triple jump with a distance of 12.73m and will also wait to see if the distance sends her to Nationals. Senior Jennifer Rogers (Parksville, B.C.) put for a great effort and took 15th (12.49m).
On Friday, freshman Carin Knight (New Rochelle, N.Y.) won the high jump (1.81m) and will compete with the nation's elite at NCAA Nationals, June 6-9, in Sacramento, Calif.
