Men's Tennis Knocks Off Monmouth 4-3

STORRS, Conn. (March 30, 2007) - The University of Connecticut men's tennis team pulled together to knock off Monmouth 4-3 on Friday afternoon at the Connecticut Tennis Courts.
The Huskies started off the day by winning the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 2. Freshman Joe Goldstein (Tucson, Ariz.) and sophomore Ben Schueler (Arlington, Mass.) were 8-5 winners over Ben Evenden and Tom Corrie at No. 1. Freshman Tom Cook (Pittsford, N.Y.) and junior Aaron Ribchinsky (Ivoryton, Conn.) pulled out a close 9-8 win at No. 2 over Tim McLane and Vik Gupta.
In singles play, Goldstein defeated Corrie at No. 2 7-6, 6-1. Schueler was down 2-6 after the first set but fought back to win the final two 6-3, 6-4 over Pedro Bruno at No. 3. Ribchinsky sealed the win for the Huskies at No. 5 with a win over McLane 6-3, 6-4.
UConn continues to play at home Saturday afternoon with a BIG EAST match against Georgetown with a noon start time.
