CENTERVILLE, Mass. (December 11, 2007) - Sophomore Tynisha McMillian (Bridgeport, Conn.) was selected as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Field Athlete of the Week after she broke her own school record in the shot put at the Alden Invitational hosted by Brown University on Saturday, December 1.
McMillian recorded a toss of 15.65m (51-04.25) as her mark was also a NCAA provisional qualifying mark. Complimenting that performance was an outstanding mark in the weight throw, as she threw for a distance of 60-03.00, eclipsing the mark of All-American Bethany Hart, for third in the UConn all-time record books.
University of Vermont's Carmen Lagala earned the Track Athlete of the Week honor after she won the 1,000-meter race at the Husky Winter Carnival hosted by Northeastern University with a time of 2:52.57.
UConn will return to action after the New Year when they travel to West Point, N.Y. for the Army Invitational on January 12. The meet is set for 11:00 a.m. starting time.
