Swimming and Diving Finish Day One at Shamrock Invitational

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (January 26, 2007) – The University of Connecticut men’s and women’s swimming and diving team completed day one in the Shamrock Invitational on Friday at the Rolfs Aquatic Center in South Bend, Ind.
The women’s team leads Oakland University by a total of five points, and trail West Virginia, Notre Dame and Penn State heading into the final round of competition. The men’s team trails the pack heading into the second day of competition.
Allison Coleman (New Canaan. Conn.) delivered the Huskies a first place finish in the three-meter diving event with a score of 278.95.
The Huskies will return to the pool tomorrow, Saturday January 27, as they continue competition in the Shamrock Invitational.
The morning session will begin at 10 a.m. and will include the 200 medley relay, 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, one meter diving and the 800 freestyle relay. The evening session will begin at 5 p.m. with the 1,650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly and 400 freestyle relay.
