Volleyball Wins Thriller over Boston College, 3-2

STORRS, Conn. (September 8, 2006) – The University of Connecticut volleyball team won a thrilling match over Boston College, 3-2, at their first match of UConn Volleyball Classic on Friday, September 8. The Huskies are now 6-0 on the season.
The Huskies now improve to 6-0 on the season.
UConn won the first game of the match by a close score of 30-27. Game two saw the Eagles winning, 30-27 and then took game three 30-28. The Huskies came out with more ammunition to take game four 30-25. In the fifth and deciding game, UConn pulled through to win 15-13.
Freshman Kate Seabaugh (St. Louis, Mo.) led the team with 15 kills while junior Gina Heiderman (Niles, Ill.) was close behind with 14. Sophomore Sarah Singer (Waukesha, Wisc.) came up with 12 kills with sophomore Devon Farrell (Lafayette, Calif.) adding 10.
Freshman Bridget Denson-Dorman (Maple Grove, Minn.) had 49 assists on the night while freshman Jessica Issac (Erlanger, Ky.) led the way in digs with 26.
In the night’s earlier match between Northern Illinois and Quinnipiac, the Huskies of NIU won 3-0.
UConn will now take on Quinnipiac at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
