Men's Tennis Has Strong Showing at Fairfield Doubles Festival

Fairfield, Conn. (September 12, 2006) - The University of Connecticut men's tennis team competed strong at the Fairfield Doubles Festival on Saturday, September 9, in Fairfield, Conn.
In Flight One, the duo of Ben Schueler (Arlington, Mass.)/Nate Carualho (Freetown, Mass.) fell to Holy Cross, 9-8(2) and Quinnipiac, 8-4, before defeating Fairfield, 8-5, in Round Robin Pool A.
Joey Michaels (Rochester Hills, Mich.)/Christian Malerba (Derby, Conn.)teamed up in Flight Two, losing to Queens, 9-8(2) but fought back to defeat Sacred Heart, 8-1, and Quinnipiac, 8-6, in Round Robin Pool A. The duo then went on to beat Hartford, 8-4, for a fifth place finish.
The team of Mike Bobitski (Fort Myers, Fla.)/Tom Cook (Pittsford, N.Y.) defeated Holy Cross and Sacred Heart by scores of 8-1 in Round Robin Pool B. Quinnipiac A was the next opponent they defeated by a score of 8-3 before falling in the finals to Quinnipiac B, 9-8.
Up next for the Huskies is a match with Hartford on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 3 p.m.
