Women's Track Concludes Competition At NCAA Championship

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (June 9, 2006) – University of Connecticut sophomore, Tamara Highsmith (East Haven, Conn.) competed in the 2006 NCAA Outdoor Championship triple jump preliminaries on Friday afternoon. The reigning BIG EAST champion finished in eighth place in her heat with a jump of 12.71 meters.
Highsmith’s jump placed her 17th in overall competition, a rank that did not advance her into the final round of competition. The NCAA Outdoor Championship was the final event of the season for the UConn women’s track team. The team concludes the season with four consecutive first place finishes in regional meets and a New England Championship.
