Highsmith Earns Second ECAC Track Award

STORRS, Conn. (April 20, 2006) – Sophomore Tamara Highsmith (East Haven, Conn.) picked up her second Eastern College Athletic Conference award of the season this week after her successful weekend at the Brown Invitational. Highsmith was named the ECAC Track Performer of the Week.
At Brown, Highsmith qualified for the NCAA Regionals and broke the school record with a time of 1:00.37 in the 400-meter hurdles. She nearly recorded another school record with a personal best of 13.02 in the triple jump. Highsmith also took first place in the 100 hurdles at Brown.
Highsmith garnered his first ECAC award on March 29 after a winning four individual titles at the Dick Shea Open hosted by Army.
