Highsmith Named ECAC Field Athlete Of The Week

CENTERVILLE, Mass. (March 29, 2006) - Sophomore Tamara Highsmith (East Haven, Conn.) was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division I Field Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Dick Shea Open at Army over the weekend. At the meet, Highsmith won four individual events and was a member of the winning 4x400 relay team. Her two field events included a high jump mark of 1.72 meters, which was a personal best for her. She also took first in the triple jump with a mark of 12.54m. Highsmith was also successful in track events with top honors in the 100-meter hurdles (14.35) and 400meter hurdles (1:02.20).
Highsmith and the rest of the Connecticut track and field team will compete again on April 1 at the South Florida Invitational.
