Diving Wraps up Competition at NCAA Zone 'A' Regionals

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (March 11, 2006) – Four divers advanced to the finals on day two of the NCAA Zone ‘A’ Regionals Saturday on the campus of the U.S. Naval Academy.
Sophomore T.J. Ferguson (Plainville, Conn.) and junior Kevin Thompson (Stamford, Conn.) represented the Huskies in the finals of the men’s one-meter event. Ferguson’s trials score of 270.30 and finals score of 242.75 gave him an overall score of 513.05-good for 11th place. Thompson placed 16th for UConn with an overall score of 468.25. Joining Ferguson and Thompson in the trials was sophomore Michael Clifford (West Islip, N.Y.) who finished in 22nd place with a score of 227.10.
On the women’s side, freshman Liza Marianni (Cherry Hill, N.J.) and sophomore Allison Coleman (New Canaan, Conn.) advanced to the finals of the three-meter dive. The two finished back-to-back with Marianni in 11th place scoring an overall 485.25 points and Coleman in 12th place with an overall of 485.00 points. Senior Lauren Jacob (Elmira, N.Y.) had a 20th place finish in the trials with a score of 215.30.
