Swimming Starts Competition at 2006 U.S. Open

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (November 30, 2006) – The University of Connecticut had six swimmers compete at the U.S. Open held at Purdue University.
Nick Acquavito (Freeport, N.Y.) turned in a 1:06.89 time in the 200 breaststroke, which was good enough to place him 29th place in the event.
Tristan Jones (Canberra, Australia) clocked in at 2:25.90 in the men’s 100 breaststroke event placing him 43rd.
Lisa Shelps (Quakertown, Pa.) swam a 2:25.90 in the 200 IM for a 62nd place finish in that event.
Katie DeVinney (Avondale, Ariz.), Sarah Kearns (Milford, Mass.), Danielle Sanders (Mississauga, Ontario) and Shelps also competed in the 800 freestyle relay that finished 22nd.
The U.S. Open continues tomorrow at Purdue University with the 100 Backstroke, 200 Freestyle, 100 Butterfly, 400 IM and 400 Medley Relay events.
