James Tabbed Men's Soccer Hermann Trophy Semifinalist

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (November 15, 2006) - Junior All-American Julius James (Maloney Gardens, Trinidad) is among 15 semifinalists for the Men's 2006 M.A.C. Hermann Trophy, given to the nation's top collegiate player, as announced recently by the Missouri Athletic Club. This is the second-straight year the two-time co-captain was named a candidate and his first-ever nod as a semifinalist.
Earlier this season, James was named the BIG EAST Defender of the Year for the second consecutive season after being tabbed as 2006 Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. As a two-time All-BIG EAST First Team honoree, James helped the Huskies hold opponents to 1.17 goals per game this season, while tallying five shutouts on the year and leading the Huskies to as high as No. 7 in the nation this season. He played and started in all 19 games this year, adding two goals on the season.
The winner will be determined in voting by NSCAA Division I member coaches. Three men's and three women's finalists will be announced on Monday, Nov. 27. The winners will be announced at a banquet in St. Louis, Mo., hosted by the Missouri Athletic Club on Saturday, Dec. 2, where they will be presented with the prestigious crystal soccer ball which has come to symbolize the highest individual achievement in intercollegiate soccer.
