STORRS, Conn. (Sept. 12, 2005) – University of Connecticut quarterback Matt Bonislawski was named to Monday to the BIG EAST Conference’s weekly football honor roll. It is the second such week that UConn had a player named to the honor roll as Bonislawski follows in the footsteps of defensive tackle Deon McPhee who received the honor a week ago.
Bonislawski completed 18 of his 25 passes (72-percent) for 217 yards and a pair of touchdowns in just one half of play to lead UConn to a 59-0 win over Liberty on Sept. 10. Bonislawski completed each of his first 10 passes en route to becoming the first Husky to win each of his first two starts at quarterback since Brian Hoffmann in 1998. Bonislawski guided the Huskies to 38 first half points, as the team scored on each of its six first half drives (five touchdowns and one field goal), including marches of 81 and 92 yards.
The Huskies return to action on Saturday when they face No. 16 Georgia Tech from historic Grant Field in Atlanta. Kickoff is set for 6:45 p.m. on ESPNU.
