Huskies Finish Second at UConn Invitational; Garner Wins Three Events

STORRS, Conn. (April 9, 2005) - The University of Connecticut women's track and field team took second at the UConn Invitational at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex on Saturday. The Huskies finished with 186.5 points, 17.5 points behind invite winner Brown at 204.
UConn was lead by senior April Garner (Temple Hills, Md.) who won three events. She placed first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.00. Garner then won the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.89 before helping the Huskies to first in the 4x400 meter relay at 3:46.09.
Senior Deirdre Mullen (Princeton, N.J.) also took first in the high jump, winning the event with a mark of 1.70 meters (5-07.00 feet).

Connecticut will next travel to Walnut, Calif., to complete in the Mt. Sac Relays April 15-17.
