Women's Track and Field Competes at the ECAC Championships

BOSTON, Mass. (March 6) - The University of Connecticut women's track and field team competed at the ECAC Championships at Northeastern University's Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center this Saturday and Sunday. UConn finished with 11 points while the University of Pittsburgh won the meet with 86.75 points.
ECAC Track Athlete of the Week senior April Garner (Temple Hills, Md.) finished fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.33 seconds to improve on her previous NCAA provisional qualifying time of 8.38 seconds. The 4X400 relay squad of Garner, sophomore Jennifer Rogers (Parksville, B.C.), freshman Tamara Highsmith (East Haven, Conn.) and classmate Sarah Fisher (Houston, Texas) also scored points, finishing eighth with a time of 3:47.19.
In the field events, sophomore Daisy VanRavenswaay (Canfield, Ontario) captured fourth in the shot put with a mark of 14.31m (46-11.50).
