Men's Tennis Tops Three Teams Over Spring Break

PHOENIX, Ariz. (March 15, 2005) - The University of Connecticut men's tennis team defeated three teams in Phoenix, Ariz., during the school's spring break. The Huskies topped Mesa Community College, Scottsdale Community College and Glendale Community College each by scores of 6-1.
Junior Sho Sato (Tokyo, Japan) did not drop a set all during any of his matches at No. 3, defeating Jibran Olmos of MCC, 6-2, 6-2, Adam Potthoff of SCC, 6-3, 6-2, and Nick Borada, 6-0, 6-2. Freshman Michael Bobitski (For Myers, Fla.) also won all three of his matches in straight sets at No. 6, defeating Matt Given of MCC, 6-2, 6-2, Martin Petrovic of SCC, 6-2, 6-1, and Chris Williams, 7-5, 6-0.
The Huskies also took the doubles point in all three contests, with Bobitski teaming with senior Joe Mercuri (Wallingford, Conn.) to win each of their three doubles matches.
Connecticut men's tennis team will next play at Holy Cross on Monday, March 21 at 3:00 p.m.
