Julius James Named 2005 Soccer All-American

STORRS, Conn. (December 9, 2005) - Sophomore Julius James (Maloney Gardens, Trinidad) was named to the 2005 All-America list as released by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) on Friday afternoon. James, a M.A.C. Hermann Trophy candidate, was named to the All-America second team for his contributions to Connecticut's exceptional men's soccer season.
As well as being named an All-American, James was named the 2005 BIG EAST Defender of the Year, received First Team All-BIG EAST honors and was awarded with the conference Defensive Player of the Week honor twice (9/26, 10/31). He played and started in all 21 games this season and helped anchor a defense that allowed an average of just 0.56 goals per game, while posting 14 shutouts. James also contributed offensively with two goals. His first came against George Mason (9/9) and another on the road vs. Notre Dame (10/8).
