No. 10 Notre Dame Tops Volleyball 3-0

STORRS, Conn. (Oct. 9) - The University of Connecticut women's volleyball team fell to No. 10 Notre Dame, 3-0 (20-30, 23-30, 23-30) on Sunday afternoon in Gampel Pavilion. With the loss, the Huskies slip to 9-8 overall and 2-3 against BIG EAST competition. Notre Dame is 14-1 overall, 5-0 in the BIG EAST.
The Huskies were led offensively by sophomore Sade Chambers (Baldwinsville, N.Y.), who had a career-high 16 kills in the match. She also had six digs and one block assist. Senior Heather Ashley (Smithsburg, Md.) had eight kills, two set attempts and five digs in the match. Fellow senior Megan Crawley (Georgetown, Texas) had seven kills and eight digs in the loss. Sophomore Julie Pickard (Hillsborough, N.C.) led the Huskies with 11 digs while senior Jenny Neelands (Gainesville, Fla.) had 37 assists and eight digs in the match.
Lauren Brewster led the Fighting Irish with 16 kills, one service ace and five block assists. Carolyn Cooper had 11 kills and three service aces while Adrianna Stasiuk picked up 10 kills, 11 digs and one solo block along with three block assists.
UConn is next in action on Tuesday, Oct. 11 when they host Northeastern in Gampel Pavilion. Match time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
