Northeastern Edges UConn Volleyball, 3-2

BOSTON, Mass. -- The University of Connecticut (4-4) suffered a 3-2 setback in women’s volleyball against Northeastern (4-4) in non-conference play at Solomon Court on Tuesday evening. The UConn Huskies earned wins in games two and three, 32-30 and 30-26, but fell in games one, four and five, 30-25, 30-23 and 15-12.
Senior captain Jamie Hadenfeldt (Benicia, Calif.) and junior Heather Ashley (Smithsburg, Md.) led UConn’s attack with 16 kills apiece, while Hadenfeldt also chipped in three aces and 12 digs and Ashley posted 14 digs. Freshman Sadé Chambers (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) followed with 13 kills and classmate Brittany Stewart (Dolton, Ill.) tallied a team-high 28 digs. Junior setter Jenny Neelands (Gainesville, Fla.) recorded 47 assists in the loss.
Whitney Turner totaled a match-leading 21 kills for Northeastern and contributed 18 digs. Larissa Ardomat registered 14 kills and Bree Peterson aided the offense with 34 assists. Kira Batura and Ashley Adamczyk also totaled 32 and 29 digs, respectively.
Connecticut returns to action on Friday, September 24th, when it travels to Gainsville, Fla. to face UC-Santa Barbara in the Florida Classic at 5:00 p.m.
