Huskies Finish Fifth at UNH Wildcat Invitational

DURHAM, N.H. (Sept. 11) – The University of Connecticut men’s cross country team opened their 2004 season with a fifth place finish at the University of New Hampshire Wildcat Invitational on Saturday.
Freshman Will Melofchik (Wayside, N.J.) led the Huskies runners, coming in eighth out of 83 competitors with a time of 25:35.17. As a team, UConn finished with 126 points as host UNH captured first with 53 points.
UConn’s Zach Vavro (Butler, Pa.) finished 11th with a time of 25:44.45, Colin Meyers was 25th with a time of 26:17.61 and Brian Cacace (East Haven, Conn.) came in 33rd with a time of 26:39.65.
Connecticut will next compete in the Fordham Invitational on Saturday, September 18th.
