PHILADELPHIA, PA (April 23) - Three members of the University of Connecticut women's track and field team have completed competition at the Penn Relays. Three-time All-American Deirdre Mullen (Princeton, N.J.) led the group, placing second in the College Women High Jump Championship.
Mullen recorded a jump of 1.83 meters (6-0) to earn her second-place finish in the top group of female collegiate high jumpers at the Relays.
Senior Amy Parkosewich (Bethlehem, Conn.) competed in both the College Women Hammer Throw event, and the College Women Eastern Shot Put Championship. She placed sixth in the latter with a shot put throw of 13.61 meters (44-8), and finished seventh in the hammer throw with a mark of 55.14 meters (180-11).
Junior April Garner (Temple Hills, Md.) ran in the third and final heat of the 100-meter hurdles, placing seventh in the heat with a time of 13.92. The mark was not enough to place Garner in tomorrow's finals in the event.
The women's track and field team will next be competing on Sunday, April 25 at the Yale Spring Invitational.
