UConn Splits Final Matches of Spring Break Trip

ORLANDO, FL (March 9) - The University of Connecticut men’s tennis team split their final two matches on their spring break trip, losing 7-0 to Penn State on Monday, but rebounding to defeat Florida Tech 6-3 on Tuesday. UConn’s season record now stands at 3-4.
The Huskies struggled to get anything going against Penn State, losing all six singles matches in straight sets, and winning just a few games against their opponents in doubles.
Against Division II Florida Tech, UConn pulled out two wins in doubles and four in singles to come out victorious. Unlike in Division I, all three doubles matches count as a single point in Division II. Junior Brian Ravesloot (Tucson, Ariz.) and junior Sam Sutherland (Tampa, Fla.) were double winners on the day for UConn. Ravesloot won 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 3 singles position, and teamed with Andy Sweatt (Reno, Nev.) for an 8-2 win in No. 2 doubles. Sutherland won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 6 singles, and teamed with Joel Gamoran (Mercer Island, Wash.) for an 8-4 win in No. 3 doubles.
UConn will return to action on Saturday, March 27 when they travel to Villanova.
