Jacquelyn Craft Places 12th At NCAA Championship

COLLEGE STATION, TX (March 20) - Freshman Jacquelyn Craft of the University of Connecticut swimming team became the first Husky ever to earn team points at the NCAA Championships when she finished 12th in the 200 meter breaststroke on Saturday night at Texas A&M’s Student Recreation Center Natatorium in College Station. UConn finished with five team points in the event which was won by Auburn for the third consecutive year.
Craft finished the event at the national collegiate showcase in a personal-best 2:28.54. For finishing between ninth and 16th place, Craft also earns honorable mention All-America honors, another first for the UConn program. She is the first Husky ever to advance out of the morning preliminaries at the NCAA Championships. Craft was also the second highest finishing freshman in the nation, trailing just Melissa Klein of national runner-up Georgia, who was seventh.
On Friday, Craft also competed in the 100 breaststroke where she swam a personal-best time of 1:10.34 over the metric course and placed 27th overall.
