Huskies Take the Title at New England Indoor Championships

BOSTON, MA (Feb. 28) - Earning 15 more points than their next-closest competitor, the University of Connecticut women’s track and field team won their third title in four years at the New England Indoor Championships.
The Huskies recorded 112 points as a team, while Boston College placed second with 97 points. Maine took third place with 66 points.
UConn recorded four individual first-place finishes at the meet, and several other strong finishes as well. Caitlyn Brady (Englewood, Colo.) won the triple jump with a mark of 12.15 meters, and Deirdre Mullen (Princeton, N.J.), undefeated in the high jump this season, won the event yet again with a jump of 1.80 meters (5-10.75).
April Garner (Temple Hills, Md.) continued her success in the track events, winning the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 8.08. Nicola Hines (Bridgeport, Conn.) also took a top finish with a win in the 500-meter run in a time of 1:15.38.
Amy Parkosewich (Bethlehem, Conn.) recorded yet another personal best in the weight throw with a mark of 18.49 meters (60-08.00), which is also the second-best mark all-time at UConn, surpassing All-American Bethany Hart’s mark of 60-02.00 set in 2000.
Kiley Margolis (Trumbull, Conn.) recorded a strong time of 2:55.61 in the 1000-meter to finish in second place and earn valuable points for the Huskies.
UConn will return to action on March 6-7 at the IC4A Championships in Boston, Mass.
