Syracuse Upends Volleyball, 3-0

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (Nov. 7) -- The University of Connecticut women’s volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss to Syracuse in BIG EAST Conference action on Sunday. The Huskies drop to 16-9 on the season, 5-3 in BIG EAST play, while the Orange improve to 24-5 and are 7-1 in the BIG EAST. UConn fell in three straight games by the scores of 30-19, 30-27 and 30-19.
UConn senior tri-captain Jamie Hadenfeldt (Benicia, Calif.) led the Huskies with 14 kills along with 13 digs and junior Heather Ashley (Smithsburg, Md.) followed with five kills. Setter Jenny Neelands (Gainesville, Fla.) chipped in with 23 assists and eight digs and freshman Brittany Stewart (Dolton, Ill.) posted 11 digs.
Kristen Conway tallied a team-high 14 kills for the Orange and helped out defensively with nine digs, while Cheryl Cobbina added 13 kills and Kelly Duan registered 12 kills. Ailia Dommestrup contributed 39 assists and 11 digs in the victory for Syracuse.
Connecticut returns to action on Thursday, Nov. 11, when it travels to Boston College for a 7:00 p.m. BIG EAST Conference match.
