Pittsburgh Tops Volleyball, 3-0

PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Oct. 31) -- The University of Connecticut women’s volleyball team (15-7, 5-1 BE) suffered a 3-0 loss to Pittsburgh (18-5, 6-0 BE) in BIG EAST conference action on Sunday, ending the Huskies’ winning streak at eight matches. The Panthers took games one, two and three by the scores of 30-19, 30-21 and 30-17.
UConn junior tri-captain Megan Crawley (Georgetown, Texas) totaled a team-best nine kills and senior tri-captain Jamie Hadenfeldt (Benicia, Calif) followed with eight kills and nine digs. Junior setter Jenny Neelands (Gainsville, Fla.) tallied 24 assists and freshman Brittany Stewart (Dolton, Ill.) registered 14 digs.
Gini Ullery led Pittsburgh with 16 kills and added eight digs, while Megan Miller followed with 15 kills and hit .429 for the match. Setter Azadeh Boroumand chipped in with 41 assists and Megan McGrane recored a match-best 17 digs.
The Huskies return home on Tuesday, Nov. 2, when the team will play host to Central Connecticut in a match slated for 7:00 p.m.
