Volleyball Upends Georgetown, 3-0

STORRS, Conn. (Oct. 10) -- The University of Connecticut (10-6) women’s volleyball team improved to 2-0 in BIG EAST play as the Huskies picked up a 3-0 win over Georgetown (11-8, 0-2 BE) Sunday afternoon at Gampel Pavilion. UConn won its games by the scores of 30-25, 30-25 and 30-23.
Senior tri-captain Jamie Hadenfeldt (Benicia, Calif.) totaled a match-best 13 kills for the Huskies and added nine digs, while junior tri-captain Megan Crawley (Georgetown, Texas), freshman Sadé Chambers (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) and sophomore Kaity Craig (Terryville, Conn.) posted eight kills each. Junior setter Jenny Neelands (Gainesville, Fla.) tallied 32 assists to go along with two service aces and 11 digs. Freshman Brittany Stewart (Dolton, Ill.) led the UConn defense with 13 digs.
Jenny Weed led the Hoyas with 12 kills and Katie Nulty and Patty Carroll both registered 12 digs. Kate Fisher recorded 24 assists while Margaret Vernon added 15 helpers.
Connecticut continues its homestand with a match against Iona College at Gampel Pavilion on Wednesday, October 13, at 7:00 p.m.
