Mullen, Toppin Head to Olympic Trials

PALO ALTO, CA (June 23) - University of Connecticut women’s track and field athlete Deirdre Mullen (Princeton, NJ) competed at the USA Track & Field Championships this week. Stanford University hosted the competition from June 19-22.
High jumper Mullen, who had redshirted for the 2003 outdoor season, competed as an unattached athlete and finished in 11th place. Mullen jumped 1.79 meters (5-10.50). She competed against former Husky and four-time All-American Tamika Toppin in the event. Toppin placed seventh with a jump of 1.84 meters (6-0.50). Both women have qualified for the Olympic Trials. The trials will be held in Sacramento, CA from July 9-18.
