UConn Finishes Second Day of BIG EAST Competition

STORRS, CT (May 3)- After the second day of the BIG EAST Track and Field Championship meet held at the University of Connecticut, the Huskies lead the men's teams with 53 points and the Notre Dame leads the women with 46 points. The UConn women are in 13th place with five points. Tamara McGill from Pittsburgh took the women’s top honor in the heptathlon with 5240 points, a new meet record. Another top performance on the day came from Providence’s Roisin McGettigan in the 3000 meter steeplechase. McGettigan beat her own BIG EAST meet record with a time of 9:58.26, which ranks her first nationally in the event this year.
