SYRACUSE, NY (February 23) - The University of Connecticut women’s track and field team finished in eleventh place overall in the BIG EAST Championship meet with 27 points.
The highlight of the weekend for the Huskies was undoubtedly All-American Deirdre Mullen’s (Princeton, NJ) performance in the high jump. Mullen took home first-place honors with a meet record of 1.84 meters (6-0.50), also a career-best and UConn record. The jump qualifies Mullen for the USATF Nationals to be held Sunday, March 2 at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, MA. The women’s high jump competition begins at 1:15 p.m.
Other top finishes include Amy Parkosewich’s (Bethlehem, CT) second-place finish in the weight throw and Andrea Gourdine’s (Penfield, NY) fifth-place finish in the triple jump.
