Huskies Play Well at Day One of the UConn Invitational

STORRS, CT (Sept. 28, 2002) - The University of Connecticut men’s tennis team opened play today at the annual UConn Invitational at the UConn Tennis Courts. The Huskies played extremely well placing seven out of nine singles players and four doubles teams in the semifinals, along with one doubles team in the quarterfinals.
The senior duo of Mike Furman and Joe Lang led the Huskies as they advanced to the semifinals at No.1 singles and then teamed together to advance to the semifinals of No.1 doubles. Freshman Matt Schor and senior Max Zubatsky advanced to the semifinals in No. 2 singles, while junior Andy Sweatt advanced to the semifinals in No. 3 singles. In No. 4 singles sophomores Alex Ningas and Brian Ravesloot also won two matches today to advance to the semifinals.
The UConn Invitational continues Sunday at 9:00 am at the UConn Tennis Courts.
