Tremblay Tabbed Verizon Academic District I First Team Selection

STORRS, CT (May 23, 2002) -- Senior Nichole Tremblay (Warwick, RI) of the University of Connecticut women’s track and field and cross country teams was named to the Verizon Academic All-District I First Team, as announced by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) on Thursday.
A Graphic Design major with a 3.696 grade point average, Tremblay has been named to the Director of Athletics Honor Roll each semester as a Husky and has earned BIG EAST Academic All-Star status three times during her career. She has also been named to the Dean’s List five times at UConn.
On the track, Tremblay has been one of UConn’s top distance runners over the past four seasons. A four-time BIG EAST indoor point-scorer for the Huskies, Tremblay’s greatest athletic achievement as a Husky came last season when she was the ECAC Champion in the indoor 1,000-meter run. She also captured the New England Indoor title in the 1,000-meters her last two seasons in Storrs and was a four-time New England Indoor point-scorer.
All 10 of the District I First Team selections will move on to the national level. The Verizon Academic All-America teams for women’s track and field/cross country will be released June 20.
Tremblay was joined on the District I Academic Teams by sophomore Sarah Casilli (Jamaica Plain, MA). Casilli, a Human Development/Family Relations major, was a second team selection.
