UConn Boasts Nationally-Ranked Doubles Team

STORRS, CT (March 4, 2002) - The University of Connecticut men’s tennis team is boasting one of the top doubles teams in the country. Junior Mike Furman (Allentown, PA) and junior Joe Lang (Winchester, MA) are currently tied for 57th place among Division I doubles teams on the collegetennisonline.com website.
Furman is the Huskies No. 1 singles player and has a record of 9-8 so far this season. Lang, playing at either the No. 3 or No. 4 singles position, has a 13-5 overall record. He also racked up a nine-match win streak in the fall as the two helped lead UConn to a perfect 5-0 fall record. Currently the Huskies are 6-2 overall.

Furman and Lang as a doubles team are 10-6 on the season and made a trip to 2001 Omni Hotels Eastern Region Championships back in October.
The men’s team continues spring action this weekend as it travels to Central Connecticut for a 5 p.m. match-up on Saturday, March 9.
