Huskies Win Meet While on Training Trip

HAWAII (January 22, 2002) – While on its training trip to Hawaii, the University of Connecticut men’s and women’s swimming and diving team defeated Fordham. The women won by a score of 14-7 while the men swept by a score of 21-0.
The meet consisted of six events, all medley relays. On the women’s side, UConn took third and fourth in the 200 medley, first and third in the 400 medley and first and foruth in the 800 medley. Winning times for the 400 and 800 were 4:09.88 and 8:52.25 respectively.
On the men’s side, UConn took first in all three events. The Huskies also took fourth in the 200 and third in both the 400 and the 800. Winning times for the events were 1:41.36 in the 200, 3:46.85 in the 400 and 8:14.07 in the 800.
Upon returning, the Huskies will host their second and final meet of the season at noon on Jan. 26 in the Wolff-Zackin Natatorium. The 2002 seniors will also be honored at the meet.
