Cross Country Finishes Sixth at CCSU Invitational
NEW BRITAIN, CT (Sept. 8, 2001) -- The University of Connecticut men’s cross country team finished sixth at the CCSU Invitational in its first meet of the season on Saturday. UConn recorded 131 points in the 12-team meet. Holy Cross won the invitational with a score of 51 points.
The Huskies, who were without the services of their top four runners including 2000 Cross Country All-American (Sr., West Haven, CT), were paced by freshman Pat Blake (Lebanon, CT). Blake clocked 28:01.7 en route to a 10th place finish. Sophomore Alex Hudimatch (Watertown, CT) finished second among the Huskies, recording a time of 28:38.5 to finish 21st. Other UConn scorers included senior (Freeport, NY), who finished 24th, junior Nuno Monteiro (Danbury, CT), who placed 36th, and senior (Bronx, NY), who recorded a 40th-place finish.
UConn will next compete at Boston College on Friday, September 14th.
