Toppin and Abrams Lead Women's Track at CCSU Invite

Toppin led a one-two-three finish for UConn in the high jump with a winning leap of 5'11" and she also won the 100 meter high hurdles with a time of 14.24. Abrams won both the 100 (12.33) and 200 meter (25.34) dashes and also was part of the winning 4x100 meter relay team.
Sophomore Amy Parkosewich (Bethlehem, CT) won the hammer throw (148'9"), placed third in the discus, and was fourth in the shot put.
Freshman Nicole Toney (West Hartford, CT) won the triple jump (39'9¼"), was third in the long jump, and was a member of the victorious 4x100 meter relay team.
UConn sophomore Tali Griner (Kirait Mzkin, Israel) won the pole vault at 10'6" and senior Lissa Bloom (Peabody, MA) won the shot put (44'8¼").
Other top efforts by UConn athletes included: senior Kim Grabarz (Brookfield, CT) second in both the 800 and 1,500 meter runs; senior Louise Agoston (Jackson, NJ) second in the 400 meter intermediate hurdles, fifth in the 100 meter hurdles, and part of the winning 4x400 relay team; Wadudah Nurul-Islam (Providence, RI) second in both the hammer and shot put and fourth in the discus; sophomore Kafi Davis (Norwich, CT) second in the long jump and a member of both the 100 and 400 meter winning relay teams; freshman Nicola Hines (Bridgeport, CT) second in the 400 meter run and a member of the winning 4x400 relay team; sophomore Kelly Joy (Montpelier, VT) second in the 3,000 meter run; and freshman Deirdre Mullen (Princeton, NJ) second in the high jump.
